How is life after Special Operations Duty?

I've always been interested in Special Operations, and I've been wanting to do MARSOC for sometime. I'm confident I would like doing it, but recently I got to thinking, that just like with anything else in life; you have to think about the consequences and what happens later. So my question is what is life like AFTER serving in MARSOC (Or really any SOF)? Do you still get to do basically what you want to do, or do you have to live a semi-sheltered life and still kind of protect your identity and anonymity of it? How would it affect me going to college and being able to get a degree? Are there issues with employment?
